The financial tithe is straight forward and goes back to Abram. In Genesis 14:20, Abram presents ten percent of the wealth he earned in battle to the high priest Melchizedek. All we have is a gift from God and as such, the tithe represents offering our first fruits back to God as a thanksgiving offering.
It takes faith that God has provided for us and will continue to provide for us. It also takes faith that God will deliver on his promise to his people in Malachi 3:10 to throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough. Here are some examples of how your tithe is Used:
At Our Savior Lutheran Church: Providing for our hard-working staff, keeping up our facilities, aiding parishioners in need.
Community: Supporting local missions,
vacation Bible school.
Global: Supporting professors and students
overseas, supporting missionaries, sending
mission teams to share Gods works.
